Lowry High School senior Sierra Maestrejuan was named to the Northern 3A volleyball first team as an outside hitter. Maestrejuan also earned all-state, second team honors.
Lowry finished 5-13 in the Northern 3A this fall, under the direction of first-year head coach Skylar Estes.
Truckee’s Kelly Cross was named the Most Valuable Player and Elko’s Cammie Nelson was named the Coach of the Year.
Truckee won the regular season and regional title in the Northern 3A all this fall.
The NIAA 3A State Championships are taking place this weekend at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas.
The Northern 3A all-league teams and all-state teams are chosen by the 10 coaches in the league at the end of the regular season.
Rounding out the first team was Truckee’s Quinn Kirschner and Joy Galles, Elko’s Cassie Spence and Madison Ballard, South Tahoe’s Abrielle Briss and Spring Creek’s Kylee Dimick.
The second team included South Tahoe’s Alysse Bross and Kaitlyn Racca. Truckee’s Kaley Settle and Morgan Just, Fernley’s Katelyn Bunyard and Willow Jacobson, Elko’s Mariah Johnson and Tara Welch and Churchill County’s Karlee Hitchcock.
The all-state first team was rounded out by Spence, Galles and Bross. The second team was made up of Ballard, Maestrejuan, Dimick and Kirschner.
Lowry’s Reece Kalkoske and Amanda Franklin were selected to the honorable mention team. Kalkoske, a junior, was chosen an opposite/setter and Franklin was a defensive specialist.
The honorable mention team included South Tahoe’s Tyler Pevenage. Fernley's Jaiden Sullivan, Colby Johnson and Celeste Condie, Elko’s Sarah Gorman and Hannah McIntosh, Spring Creek’s Cheyenne Cleveland and Nicole Southern, Dayton’s Marissa Hein, Tamia Powell, Hailey Glynn and Riley Glynn, Truckee’s Jaylin Powell, Harlee Netherby and Tatum Legare, North Valleys’ Komlani Loeak and Alexis Pena and Churchill County’s Makenzee Moretto and Lacee Wallace.
