Lady Bucks drop road matches to Spring Creek, Elko

The Lowry High School volleyball team officially saw its playoff chances end with pair of road losses last week.

The Lady Bucks were in Spring Creek on Thursday, Oct. 24, and lost 13-25, 25-18, 25-23 and 25-13 to the Spartans. After dominating the first set, the Lady Bucks could not maintain the momentum and allowed the Spartans to win the final three sets.

Lowry was in Elko on Friday, Oct. 25, and lost 25-14, 25-19 and 25-12.

Lowry built a 11-7 lead in the first set, only to see Elko score the eight points to go in front 15-10.

Elko opened a 18-11 advantage, when Lowry's Reece Kalkoske followed with a block and kill. Elko scored the next three points and cruised to the win.

After falling behind 5-3 in the second set, Lowry rallied to tie it at 7-7. Elko pulled away from there, using a 10-4 run to go in front 17-11. 

The Indians jumped out to a 7-0 advantage in the third set and never looked back. Elko led by as many as 14 points at 23-9, before winning 25-12.

Lowry closed out the regular season on Wednesday in Fallon against Churchill County. Results were not available at press time.
