Lowry High School senior Caleb Sanchez will be attending Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota next year on athletic and academic scholarships.

“I chose the Saints because they gave me a good offer," said Sanchez. "The coach is really interested in me, and I feel like I have a good chance of playing next year. I visited the school in May; it is super nice. I am going to major in exercise science. I expect to learn a lot next year and hopefully make a difference in their program. My favorite Lowry memories are all of the football games and wrestling; all the time spent with my teammates playing sports. I like the adrenaline rush of football when you are doing well and you are in the game and winning.”

Last season the Buckaroos finished 6-6 overall and 4-5 in league play.

They crushed Elko in the first round of the NIAA playoffs at their place 41-13, but the next weekend Truckee ended Lowry’s season with a 42-6 loss.

Sanchez had 27 solo tackles and assisted on another 78 last year for Lowry.

“My best memory of Caleb was in North Valleys when his shoe laces came untied in the heat of the moment," said LHS coach Taua Cabtbat. "Being the generous guy that I am, I reached down and said, “My man; I got this”, and I tied his shoes for him. The thing I will miss most about him is his attitude towards football. He brought an aggressive, physical mentality to the football field in games and in practice and it really showed; it was a good thing to see. He puts in a lot of extra work lifting weights in the summertime. I expect Caleb to go in there and make an impact right away and surprise some people.
