It is our solemn duty to announce that Barbara Lou Lorain has passed from our lives on April 22, 2019.
She passed at her home of many decades in Winnemucca, Nevada.
She is survived by her brother Russell Bonnet, son Dan Lorain, daughter Leslie Hesterlee, daughter Linda Beebie, three Grandchildren; Quinn Hesterlee, Reanna Halcrow, and Spencer Beebie, one Great-Granddaughter; Avery Hesterlee.
Barbara Lou Lorain was a lifelong resident of Northern Nevada, growing up in various locations of Northern Nevada. While growing up with Zane and Reinhold (Tex) Bonnet, she grew a love of the country, specifically, Paradise Nevada. A love that ingrained a natural preference for home and enhanced the occasional ventures beyond. In time, she met and married her late husband, David Lorain.
They subsequently made their home in Winnemucca. Dave built her the house in which they raised their family, and Barbara made their home as was symbolized by the care and attention that her yard received, which was a source of pride.
Through the years, Barbara’s life work was the raising and care of her family, a focus that remained undiminished with time.
Whether is was an afternoon snack at home, or comforts in their many journeys across the West, Barbara always made sure her family was well taken care of, even if it was only tasty sandwiches in the back of the truck alongside the road.
Barbara was also determined to ensure that succeeding generations fully availed themselves of educational opportunities in their own lives (sometimes downright tyrannical).
Mom has relinquished her hands-on care of her family and will continue from a more removed locale. We will miss her.
The family will be having a small ceremony to mark Mom’s life. The family would like to thank the wonderful people with meals on wheels and the senior center. In lieu of flowers please donate to American Diabetes Association or Michael J Fox's Parkinson's Foundation.
