RENO — The Nevada football team will play at Iowa in 2022, the schools announced today.
The game will be played on Sept. 17, 2022 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.
It will be the Wolf Pack’s first-ever game against the Hawkeyes.
The game will also mark a homecoming for Nevada head coach Jay Norvell. The Pack’s third-year coach starred as a player at Iowa, earning first-team Big Ten honors as a defensive back as a senior.
He led the Big Ten with seven interceptions and was named a co-Most Valuable Player for Iowa as he helped the Hawkeyes to a spot in the 1986 Rose Bowl. Norvell later began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Iowa.
The Wolf Pack has a stretch where it will play a Big Ten team in three of the next four seasons as Nevada plays host to Purdue to open the 2019 campaign this fall and will travel to Penn State in 2020.
