Lowry swim team takes on Churchill County, Excel Christian

The Lowry High School swim team went to the Carson Aquatic Center last week and posted a good showing.

The Lowry men’s swim team took down Churchill (Fallon) High School 122-66, and Excel Christian School 126-0 by default last weekend behind strong performances from a multitude of Buckaroos. 

Aiden Maher grabbed gold in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2 minutes, 14.76 seconds, and he also touched the wall first (1:00.28) in the 100-meter freestyle. 

He teamed up with Tristan Miller, Matthew Lizanetz, and Ashton Kalkoske for another gold in the 200-meter relay (1:50.51). Miller took silver (2:17.85) in the 200 meter free, while Lizanetz (1:13.45) was second in the 100 meter backstroke and the 100 meter butterfly (1:09.23).

Lizanetz teamed up for gold (4:11.52) in the 400 meter relay with Hunter Lewis, Evan Jeppsen, and Charles Gonin. Gonin won the 100 meter butterfly (1:08.14) and the 200 meter individual medley (2:30.86).

The women took down Excel Christian School 30-0 by default, but they fell to Churchill (Fallon) High School 153-17.

Adaya Goldblatt (1:13.02) finished second in the 100 meter freestyle and she was fourth (1:38.33) in the 100-meter breaststroke. 

Tara Higley was third (3:43.04) in the 200-meter individual medley, and she finished sixth (1:22.29) in the 100-meter freestyle.

The Bucks went to the Northwest Pool in Reno on Friday and the results of the meet were not available at press time.

On May 10-11, the Northern 3A Regional Championships  will be held at the Carson Aquatic Center and the State Championships will be held there on Saturday, May 18.
