The Battle Mountain Junior High School track and field team competed in the White Pine Cougar Invite in Ely on Saturday, April 13.
The team earned 35 personal bests and six season bests.
Jolena Ayers earned three first-place finishes and a sixth place to lead the Shorthorns.
The eighth-grader had a personal best in the triple Jump of 26 feet, 4 inches, a season best in the mile at 6 minutes, 7.6 seconds and the 400 meters at 1:11.9 for wins, and 6th in long jump with season best 12-9.
Keira Hanson earned places of 1-2-3-4 in her track debut as a sixth-grader.
Her first-place was in the triple jump at 19-7, second in discus at 38-3, third in long jump at 8-10, and fourth in shot put with a throw of 16-8.
Alex Martin, also a sixth-grader, earned first place in the discus with a toss of 54-10. He was also sixth in the shot put at 18-2.5.
Alyssa Harris earned second place in the eighth-grade triple jump with a personal best leap of 19-0.50. She also was sixth place in the shot put at 17-11 and discus at 41-4, both personal bests. She finished the day with 13th in the long jump at 10’.
Braxton Harris earned second-place honors in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 29.2.
He also had personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles at 20.45 (ninth) and 100 meters at 14.29 (10th). He finished the day with a season-best long jump of 12-4 for 14th.
Michael Lovelace was third in the shot put with a season-best throw of 26-7 and he had a personal best in the discus of 59-3.5 for fifth place.
Lilly Peterson had three personal bests. She had third-place finishes in the long jump with a leap of 13-7 and the 200 meters at 31.8. She finished the day with a ninth-place finish in the 100 meters at 14.56.
Shaelee Williams also had three personal bests. She was thirds in the triple jump at 18-1. She was ninth in the 200 meters at 39.1 and finished the day with a leap in the long jump at 7-11.
Sean Scherer had three personal bests in his events. He was third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.92. He was also 11th in the 100 meters at 14.53 and 12th in the long jump at 12’5”.
Aden Payzant had two third-place finishes, all personal bests. He had a time of 13.45 in the 100 meters, 1:11.68 in the 400 meters, and was fifth in the 200 meters at 31.87.
The 4x100 relay team of Sean, Braxton, Aden, and Julian Sosa was third with a season best time of 58.93.
Other performances for the day were: Julian Sosa, 100 hurdles 19.6 (sixth) and 100 14.24 (eighth). Aaron Morrow, 200 37.01 (eighth), long jump 7’ (ninth), 100 14.8 (ninth). Neveah Offeret, long jump 8’8” (12th). Sareidy Navarrette-Guizar, 100 16.5 (11th), 400 1:33.49 (sixth).
