Bulldog track team provides strong outing in Lovelock

The McDermitt High School track and field team went to Lovelock for the Pershing County Invitational last Saturday and emerged with two second-place finishes and two third-place finishes against their other competition.

Ben Draunidalo took second place in the 100 meters race with a time of 12.45 seconds, third in the long jump at 18 feet, 4 inches, and he teamed up with Jagger Hinkey, Nash Pope, and Alex Navarro in the 4x100 Relay for a second place finish with a team time of 53.35 seconds. 

Hinkey (37-1) took third in the triple jump, sixth (35-10) in the shot put, and 17th (89-0) in the discus as well. 

Numerous Bulldogs set personal records in the meet, including Pope, Steele Crossley, Andrew Villalobos, Chance McKinney, and freshman Navarro. Pope finished seventh in the triple jump (31-05) and eighth (15-05) in the long jump. Crossley finished seventh in the 3,200 meters (12:41.27) and eighth (5:43.02) in the 1600 meters. 

Villalobos was 13th in the triple jump (29-0) and 21st in the long jump (12-8). McKinney was 18th in the discus (84-11) and 21st in the shot put (29-10.5). Navarro (2:26.29) took seventh place in the 800 meters. 

McDermitt heads to Battle Mountain today (Saturday) for a meet at Eleanor Lemaire Junior High School.
