Obituary: Joseph Freitas Rodrigues

Joseph Freitas Rodrigues, 93, died peacefully surrounded by his family on March 20, 2019.

He was born January 13, 1926 in New Bedford, MA, the son of Antone and Philomena Rodrigues.

He moved to Lovelock, Nv at age 2 where he lived until he joined the Navy.

After serving in World War II, he returned to Lovelock and married Caroline in 1948. They moved to Las Vegas in 1950 where they raised their 5 children.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by Caroline, his wife of 63 years, his brothers George and Gilbert, sisters, Gloria, Alice and Inez. 

He is survived by his brother, Albert, his 5 children, Vikki Rodrigues, Danny Rodrigues, Patti Puliz (Allen), Tony Rodrigues (Mary), and Tom Rodrigues (Alicia); 14 grandchildren, Tara Rodrigues, Katy Knecht (John), Joe Rodrigues, Greg Puliz (Mara), Nick Puliz (Dusti), Tori Rahn (Derek), Danielle Rodrigues, AJ Rodrigues (Caitlin), Lillie Rodrigues, Thomas Rodrigues, Jr., Tatum Rodrigues, Nicole Templeton, Jessica Nunez and Kevin McIntire, 10 great grandchildren and many other family members.

Joe retired from Genstar (US Lime), in 1981. He was Navy Veteran, a member of Knights of Columbus and an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church. 

He was an avid golfer who thoroughly enjoyed his Friday rounds with family and friends and was proud of shooting his age at 86 and had the rarity of a hole in one.

Joe set the greatest example of faith, love compassion, service and kindness to all. Basically, just the best!

Visitation will be held at Palm Mortuary, Downtown, 1325 No. Main Street on Wednesday, March 27th from 3 – 6 pm, with the Rosary at 6 pm. The funeral mass celebrating his life will be at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Pkwy on Friday, March 29th at 11 am.

The family would appreciate donations to St. Anne Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.
