The annual Tah-Neva League Championship Tournament brings together 23 of the top wrestling programs in the Northern and Central parts of Nevada for a one day show down for mat supremacy.
After going toe-to-toe for the whole season in various tournaments the BMJHS wrestlers battled their way to an eighth-place finish in the final tournament.
“The kids wrestled their best matches this weekend. I thought their effort level was super high and I was impressed with how they performed,” said coach Mitch Domagala.
Stone Whitlock claimed his fourth consecutive league championship and third consecutive undefeated season. He dominated his way to being named the outstanding wrestler of the eighth-grade tournament.
Sean Scherer won his first league championship with a dramatic pin in the finals match.
On the seventh grade team, Wiatt Kelley won his second consecutive title and was named the seventh-grade outstanding wrestler. Ben Disbro finished in second place, while Anthony Silva came home with a fourth place finish.
Also wrestling but falling just short of placing were: Liam Bundrock, Angel Guadarrama, Drayden McClary, Heiley Hall and Asher Bundrock.
“The whole team worked hard and improved as the season went on. There’s a lot of success in the future for all these kids if they keep working hard.”
