The Lowry High School boys golf team started its season on the road with a couple of third-place finishes in Dayton and Fallon last week.
In Dayton on Wednesday, March 13, the Buckaroo’s top four finished with a 351, behind champion Truckee (302) and second- place South Tahoe (339).
Fernley was fourth with 360, Elko shot 369, Spring Creek finished with 451, and Fallon carded a 458. Dayton, North Valleys, and Sparks did not post a team score due to a lack of players.
Truckee had four players shoot in the 70’s at Dayton. Ethan Flynn (71), Jack Brown (75), Gabe Smith (77), and Owen Slusher (79) had the top four rounds of the day on their way to the team title.
Dillon Patterson (83) shot the lowest round for Lowry at the Dayton Valley Country Club.
Kobe Stoker (84) was second best and Rian DeLong (91) and Caden Rorex (93) rounded out the team scoring.
The top four scores for each team are counted towards the team score. Max Mavity shot 94 and Cal Peters carded a 99.
The Buckaroos finished third again in Fallon on Thursday with a team score of 360.
Truckee continued their dominance with a 327 and South Tahoe repeated their second place showing carding a 353.
Elko shot 373, then Fernley (399), Spring Creek (418), Fallon (449), and Dayton (479). North Valleys and Sparks did not post a team score due to a lack of players.
Stoker (81) tied for second place overall in the individual rounds with Smith from Truckee, while Truckee’s Brown (78) was the low man on the day.
Patterson (85), DeLong (96), Mavity (98), Rorex (101), and Peters (108) rounded out the Lowry team scoring.
The Buckaroos host their only home match of the season on Monday, March 25 at the Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course, before traveling to Fernley on Tuesday, March 26.
