For Division I Orovada took the Championship for the second year in a row and McDermitt took second. In Division II McDermitt-Blue, the third place seed, came out victorious as the champion and McDermitt-White second.
DIVISION 2 GAMES
GAME 1 Paradise (4) vs. Denio/ Fields (5)
Definitely a close game, Paradise took the win 14 to 11. Zayra Villa was their high point scorer with 6, Jayden Robertson scored 4, two of those from free throw shots. Elizabeth Carrillo and Jaxson Morgan both put two more points on the board for 4.
Matti DeLong attempted seven free throw shots for Denio/Fields, but only managed to sink 1. Bergen Hagbom made three shots and an additional free throw for 7. Maddox Norris scored 2 and Lilly Wratchford 1.
GAME 2 McDermitt Blue (2) vs. Kings River (3)
Kings River played back to back games for some of their players and yet they gave it their all. In the end they were defeated 26 to 22. Kings River’s Cody Allen scored 8 points, assisted by Isaac Warner’s 6, Robert Depoali’s 5, and Colton Elam’s 3.
McDermitt- Blue’s Dylan Palmer crashed the boards with six shots totaling 12 points, as did Alexis Scott for 10 more. Reign Crutcher added additional 2 points.
GAME 3 McDermitt White (1) vs. the winner of GAME 1 (Paradise)
McDermitt- White, the number 1 seed for D2, faced off against Paradise. After the first quarter it was close, 6 to 5, but after that McDermitt White had no mercy, defeating Par-adise 27 to 16. Clay Harney scored 12 points. Warrick Crutcher made 6. Aiden Teeman sand two in a row for 4. Kiara Crutcher added 3 with a two point shot and free throw. Both Sam Tobey and Stephen Brown made a free throw for 2 more points.
Paradise’s Cooper Hoagland made 9 points. Julian Fellebrown scored 4, two of those were from free throws. Jaxson Morgan notched 3 more to the total.
GAME 4 winner of GAME 3 (McDermitt White) vs. winner of GAME 2 (McDermitt Blue)
For the championship round in Division II the underdog took the gold, McDermitt-Blue beat McDermitt-White, with the final score being 26 to 27. Alexis Scott was named the All-Tourney Most Valuable Player from McDermitt-Blue. Ebony Crutcher, Dylan Palm-er, and Everr Crutcher were also part of the All-Tourney Team. As were Bryson Hunter, Warrick Crutcher, and Clay Harney from McDermitt-White
McDermitt-Blue’s points were distributed amongst the players. Two points Bryce Crutcher, Serenja Crutcher, Cierra Smart, Reign Crutcher, and AJ Farmer for 10. Four points for Alexis Scott, Akota Smart, and Dylan Palmer for 12. An additional 5 points was put on the board with two shots and a free throw from Everr Crutcher.
Clay Harney scored a three and two additional shots to lead in scoring with 7. Warrick Crutcher was close behind with 6. Stephen Brown and Bryson Hunter both added four points for 8. Aiden Teeman, and Kiarra Crutcher each put two points on the board for 4 more, and Sam Tobey made a free throw for 1.
DIVISION 1
GAME 1 McDermitt (4) vs. Kings River (5)
Another tough game, McDermitt came out strong and Kings River fought back fiercely in the third quarter, but in the end McDermitt won, 15 to 11. Great defense was played on both teams. McDermitt’s Rylee Wilkinson, Areli Pacheco, Akota Smart, and Warrick Crutcher, all made two point shots for a total of 8. Sadie Hinkey put up 4, and Laeloni Tobey 3 (one from a free throw).
Nate Thompson led the points for Kings River with 5, three of those being free throw shots. David Cardenas scored 2 and Isaac Warner racked up 4.
GAME 2 Paradise (2) vs. Orovada (3)
Paradise was beaten by the third place seed Orovada 29 to 39. Both team came out strong, but it was Orovada’s 11 points to Paradise’s 3 in the third quarter that sealed the deal. Orovada’s Adan Gomes, the All-Tourney MVP, who scored 19 of their points. Even with that many shots he had multiple assists and showed great sportsmanship through-out the game. Walker Smith was on a roll, accumulating another 10 points with his shots, and Jacob Miller with 9. Colton Elam added the additional 1 point with a free throw shot.
For Paradise Wade Mori was back in action this week. He scored 16 points, two of those being from free throw shots, and the rest mostly lay-ins. Yadira Aguilera made 7. Na-talie Mori worked hard getting the ball moved around as point guard and put in a shot for 2 herself. Paris Collins made a shot and a free throw for 3 and Kolby Hoagland made a free throw for 1.
GAME 3 Denio/Fields vs. the winner of GAME 1 (McDermitt)
The number one seed went against McDermitt, who had already defeated Kings Riv-er earlier in the day. Although it was clos after the third quarter, a mere five-point gap 17 to 22, McDermitt pulled away in the fourth taking the win 24 to 34. Rylee Wilkin was the lead scorer with 12 points. Clay Harney sunk a three pointer, three twos and a free throw for 10 points. Warrick Crutcher also put a three in and a two pointer for 5. Sadie Hinkey made two shots for 4. Riata Palmer also made a 2 point shot and Areli Pacheco made a free throw for 1.
Kort Summers led in points for Denio/Fields, scoring 8 points. The rest were fairly evenly distributed. Caden Montero, Lars Hagbom, Blake Powers, MattieRose John-son, Billy DeLong and Glen Canady all put two points on the boards, some from con-secutive free throw shots for a total of 12. Emmalee Estrada made 4!
GAME 4 winner of GAME 3 (McDermitt)vs. winner of game G2 (Orovada)
The lead was swapped several time between McDermitt and Orovada, but the 16 points scored by Orovada’s Gomez and Miller in the third quarter ensured their victory with the final score being 26 to 42. Adan Gomez was named MVP All Tourney Player. Jacob Miller, Walker Smith, and Ava Frey were also part of the All-Tourney Team. McDer-mitt’s Riley Wilkinson, Areli Pacheco, Kiarra Crutcher and Laeloni Tobey also were awarded All Tourney Team.
Gomez scored 24 points in this second game and was aided by Jacob Miller’s 12 and Walker Smith’s 6. They swamped places with McDermitt several times during the first and second quarter, but after half time they came back in full force.
Riley Wilkinson scored 8 for McDermitt. Areli Pacheco, Laeloni Tobey, and Alexis Scott all added four points for 12. Reese Wilkinson, Kiarra Crutcher, and Clay Harney put up an additional 6 with teach of their two point shots.
