Dorsey Naveran named First Team in 3A North and Second Team in State

Lowry High School boys basketball team senior Dorsey Naveran was voted to the first team for the 3A league for his efforts in the 2018-2019 season.  

Naveran averaged 8.5 points per game and snagged 9.9 rebounds each contest for the Buckaroos. 

Joining Naveran on the first team were Alex and Michael Klekas from Elko, John Cooley, Elijah Jackson, and Thomas Steele from Fallon, and Fernley’s Rei Robinett.

The second team was composed of Lowry junior Kobe Stoker, Dayton’s Josh Pasasouk, Sean Klekas and Ronin Rowley from Elko, Fallon’s Hayden Strasdin, Drew Miller from Fernley, and North Valleys’ Clay Parry. 

Stoker averaged 11.8 points and seven boards a game this year.

LHS seniors Brendan Domire and Oscar Juanes received honorable mention, along with Fallon’s David McFalls, Fernley’s Carson Kingston, and Jordan Torres from Dayton. Bradley Cappini and Kyle Claiborne from North Valleys were also nominated for honorable mention, as were Cameron Johnson, and  Andrew, Cameron, and Kevin Lehmann from South Tahoe. Joe Alvarez and Michael Fregillana from Sparks, Devin Holmes and Kyle Owsley from Spring Creek, and Truckee’s Isaac Cruz and Ethan Flynn completed the squad. 

The 3A North coach of the year was Chris Klekas from Elko.

The Buckaroos finished with a 13-5 League record and 17-9 overall this year. They went to the Regional Tournament as the third seed and took on Fernley in a game that they won handily 62-32, before ending the season with a heart-breaking loss to Churchill County (Fallon) 72-68 in overtime. 

The 3A State coach of the year honors went to Chelle Dalager from Fallon.

First Team State players from the 3A North were Alex and Michael Klekas from Elko and Elijah Jackson from Fallon.

Naveran also notched a second team 3A State nomination, along with John Cooley and Thomas Steele from Fallon, and Fernley’s Rei Robinett.
