National Junior High School Finals Rodeo begins

The Nevada State High School and Junior High School finals were held in Las Vegas at Horsemen’s Park on May 24-28.  

Placing in the top four spots, qualified contestants to represent Nevada at the National Finals.

The National Junior High School Finals Rodeo gets underway this weekend and runs through 29 in Huron, S.D.

A number of Junior high school qualifiers from Humboldt County will compete and include Billy DeLong, Cooper Hill and Emma Garijo.  

DeLong qualified in three separate events including, chute dogging, rifle shoot and saddle bronc steer riding. 

Cooper Hill qualified in rifle shoot and Emma Garijo will represent Nevada in barrel racing.

The Junior High School National Finals will be held in Huron, South Dakota on June 22-29.

The Humboldt County high school qualifiers are: Cade Bell in cutting, steer wrestling and calf roping.  Bailey Reynolds qualified in rifle shooing.

The High School National Finals is in Rock Springs, Wyoming July 14-20.  High School athletes will compete for championships as well as scholarships.
