Seventy-seven kids ages five-17 came to the Lowry High School soccer field for a three day soccer clinic last week.
The kids received coaching from several professional soccer players and assistant coach Chris Malenab of the Reno 1868FC team, as well as the LHS soccer coaches.
Cristina Cuevas is the goalie coach for the Lowry JV and varsity boys soccer teams, and she put this clinic together.
“It all started as a fundraiser, and it developed into a clinic," Cuevas said. "We partnered up with the Lady Bucks and sold 350 tickets to 1868 games thanks to all of our great sponsors; that is why they (1868) came to our clinic. We did raise money above and beyond the cost of the tickets, so we will split that with the girls soccer teams. Every camper got a free t shirt and a free ticket to the 1868 game on Saturday (today), so they can all go to the game and sit together. Our alumni and high school players will get on Greater Nevada Field for a scrimmage at 4:40 p.m. before the 1868 game.”
