Stock car racing on Jungo Road tears up the track

The Winnemucca Regional Raceway (WRR) on Jungo Road went large last Friday with racing in hobby stock, mini-mod, dwarf, pure stock and IMCA divisions that totaled over 70 cars grinding it out on the dirt track.

Gwen Hoffman was at the track two hours before the racing began to stake out her spot in the stands.

“I am here to see the races, like always,” Hoffman said. “I am kind of a die-hard fan. I come to just about every race and I root for Corey Sample, he is a pretty good driver. It is worth it for me to get here early because I have my favorite seat and I want to make sure that I get it every time I come. Second row, left of the flagger is my spot. I have been to 50-60 races over the past few years. It is exciting out here; I encourage everyone to support their local track and community. I go to other races in Lovelock, Fernley, Fallon, Elko and Battle Mountain, but I always want to make the Winnemucca races any time that I can.”

The WRR will be hot again on Friday Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. and the summer close-out will be on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. as well.
