Frank William Halstead died in Winnemucca on January 21, 2019 at Humboldt General Hospital of heart failure.
Frank was born to Frank Webb Halstead and Bernice Meine Halstead on November 11, 1934 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los Angeles, California.
Frank resided in several cities in Southern California for most of his life.
He also resided in Dripping Springs, Texas for 12 years, Groesbeck, Texas for 10 years and Winnemucca, Nevada for the last 2 years of his life.
He served in the Army for 2 years and was stationed in Presidio, California and Fort Eustis, Virginia.
Frank was honorably discharged on May 31, 1963. He received a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Long Beach State in the early 1970’s. Frank worked on aircraft for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing Aircraft Corporation, in California. He then worked for Motorola in the late 80’s until his retirement in 1995. Frank married Thelma Katherine King on November 1, 1994.
Frank was baptized into the Catholic faith when he was young, but in later years he regularly attended the D-3 church with his family.
He enjoyed antique gunsmithing, collecting, buying and selling. He also enjoyed collecting coins and buying and trading coins. He owned an antique firearm FFL for many years.
He especially loved his family. Frank is survived by his son Tom King of Winnemucca. Grandchildren: Valerie Carrico (Kurt Casalaz) Winnemucca; Stephanie King (Abbey Roberts) Las Vegas; Cassandra (Sammy) Martinez, Dripping Springs, TX; Christy Castillo, Austin, TX; Jason Gamache, Dripping Springs, TX; Jason (Andrea) Moore, Rexburg, Idaho; Rachel (Cameron) Martin, Raleigh, North Carolina; Audrey (Richard) Kollmann, Pocatello, Idaho. Frank leaves behind more than 25 great grandchildren. Ashlee (Eric) Fuchs, Kaylene King, Matthew Carrico, Brandon Carrico, Courtnee Carrico, Kendrick Brock – King, Kelden Brock – King, Grayson Brock – King, Austin Roberts and Addison Roberts and great grandson in law, Greg King.
4 great-great grandchildren: Kaydance Fuchs, Khloe Fuchs, Jaidyn Fuchs and Kayson Carrico.
He is survived by brother-in-law, Johnny Belvin, Dallas, TX; and sister-in-laws Peggy Luxton, Blackwell, TX; Judy Kellum, Jacksonville, North Carolina; Debbie Word and Linda Canada, Spring, TX.; former daughter-in-law, Renee (John) Young. Cousins: Mary Louise, St. George, UT; and Eathel Shea,Palmdale, CA. Nephews: Mike Ehnes, San Clemente, CA; and Eugene Ehnes, Idyllwild, CA.
He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Gena King; sons, David King and Kenneth King and daughters, Kaye Haney and Shirley Navarro; his parents, Frank Webb Halstead and Bernice Halstead; and his grandmother, Odessa Halstead.
Frank’s family would like to thank the Winnemucca Police Department, Humboldt General EMS team and supervisor and Humboldt General Hospital for doing everything possible.
Services for Frank Halstead will be held at the D-3 Church in Winnemucca, NV on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10 am.
