Obituary: Hazel Wearin

October 6, 1944 -

January 13, 2019

Hazel Wearin, 74, of Battle Mountain passed away peacefully in her home on January 13, 2019.

Hazel came into this world October 6, 1944 in Chicago, IL.

The world that she touched would never be the same, with her fiery personality and a spirit you couldn’t forget.

Her family moved to California when Hazel was very young and she grew up in the Bay area while her father worked for the railroad.

She was on her own at a very young age and learned to be independent and take care of herself. This is a trait that made Hazel who she was and the woman that most of us knew and loved.

Hazel married Duane Amberson, moved to Battle Mountain, NV and had two children, Ward and Anna Marie (Cricket). Hazel and Duane divorced and she remarried the love of her life, Dave Wearin, on May 8, 1993.

Hazel worked a variety of jobs during her life in Battle Mountain, including 18 years at Battle Mountain Gold.

After marrying Dave, she was able to retire from gold mining and focus on making a life with him. Hazel and Dave made many memories racing and doing other activities they enjoyed together over the years.

Hazel was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 1 sister, and both of her parents. She is survived by sister Rosie, sister Betty, and brother Cleo, her loving husband, Dave Wearin, son Ward Amberson (April), daughter Cricket Amberson, step-son Justin Wearin (Carla), step-son Chad Wearin

(Becky), step-daughter Stephanie Enns (Jim), 13 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life is being planned for noon on February 9th in Battle Mountain at Dave and Hazel’s home, 1855 2100 East.
