Obituary: Austin Eugene Leistiko

Austin Eugene Leistiko or also known as “Ozzy” passed away at home in Winnemucca, Nevada at age 83 due to an extended illness.

He was born in Anaconda, Montana on March 10, 1935 to Adolph “Bus” Leistiko and Lucille Saari.

He spent most of his life in Montana and eventually graduated from Boulder High School in 1953. He went on with living his life and eventually married his first wife, Laura Kathryn Siders on June 9, 1957.

Unfortunately, they divorced in the year 1977, but on February 27, 1982 Austin married Carol Jean Mundt, with whom he spent the rest of his life with.

Austin’s work history was not made up of lots of different jobs but instead he dedicated many years into every job he had. For example, he worked in Seattle, WA as an iron worker and helped build the Mono-rail and the Seattle Space needle for the Worlds Fair in 1962.

He also spent 32 years working for the State of Montana as an inspector until he retired in 2003, and at his final job he worked 15 years at N.A Dagerstrom as a safety specialist until he retired in 2012.

He enjoyed doing activities outdoors, he was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, camping and hunting deer and elk in the mountains of Montana. As far as any church memberships and/or organizations within a church, he was a believer in Jesus, it was as simple as that.

Austin is survived by his wife Carol Jean Leistiko; his children Brenda Leistiko (Ellis) of Batesburg, SC, Laura Leistiko of Billings, MT, Ken Leistiko of Helena, MT and Rick Leistiko of Helena, MT, step-children; Rodd McDannald of Reno, NV, Robert McDannald of Joplin, MO, Mike Mundt of Enumclaw, WA and Ronald White of Helena, MT.
