Obituary: Ervin Dale Thompson

Ervin Dale Thompson was born in Amelia, Nebraska on June 20th 1931.

He passed away on December 7, 2018 with his family at his bedside.

His family moved to Washington state when he was young. 

After graduating high school, Ervin followed his dream of wanting to be a cowboy and came to Nevada.

Here he worked and cowboyed for several large ranches until the Army drafted him into the Korean war. After his honorable discharge from the Army he was back in Washington state again and this time met and married Helen. 

Soon they were married and started a family, but his love of the cowboy life kept calling him back to Nevada. So off they came to the desert.

The love of his life was being a cowboy. He ranched for Ellison Ranching Co. for over 20 years.

He was an expert cow and horseman. Later he enjoyed woodworking in a shop he designed. He loved Nevada and was happy to make his home here.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years Helen, and children Stan (Crystal), Mike (Susan), Dan (Gail), Cheryl (Gene), Kathleen, Nancy (Fritz) and Ted (Raquel) and sister Linda Williams. 

He also had 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Betty, brothers Tom and Don.
