A misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence second offense against Jared Parks was dismissed at a motion hearing. Parks pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of obedience to a police officer. The court ordered a $1,000 fine + $140 administrative assessment fee. A misdemeanor charge of driving in excess of posted speed 11-20 over against Parks was dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office pursuant to plea negotiations. 



Feb. 5

Tina Marie Thomas pleaded guilty to misdemeanor embezzlement. The court ordered a $1,000 fine + $140 administrative assessment. The court was informed that the defendant had satisfied restitution in the case and paid the fine in full immediately after the hearing. 



Alfonso Pinuelas Duran Jr. was found guilty of a misdemeanor violation of a temporary or extended restraining order. The court ordered a $1,000 fine + $140 administrative assessment. 

The court suspended $640 of the fines and fees. The defendant was ordered to 30 days in the Humboldt County Detention Center with 29 days stayed for a period of one year on the condition he serves one day, with one day credit for time served given. The defendant was ordered to complete 60 hours of community service and have no like violations of the law. 



Alfonso Pinuelas-Duran Jr. pleaded guilty to misdemeanor petit larceny. The court ordered $115 restitution to be paid to the Humboldt County Treasurer’s Office. The defendant is banned for life from all Big R locations. The court ordered a $1,000 fine + $140 administrative assessment. 



Feb. 6

Sara Ann Still pleaded guilty to misdemeanor petit larceny and unlawful trespass upon land. The defendant is permanently trespassed from Walmart. On the petit larceny charge, the court ordered a $1,000 fine + $140 administrative assessment. 

On unlawful trespass, the court ordered a $100 fine + $95 administrative assessment. The defendant was given credit for six days time served. At the defendant’s request, fines and fees were converted into community service time and the defendant was ordered to complete a minimum of 10 hours per month of community service, to total 74 hours. 



Salvador Saldana pleaded guilty to driving under the influence first offense. The court ordered 30 days jail with 28 days stayed for a period of one year, on the condition he serves two days with credit for one day time served. 

The remaining 24 hours of jail time was converted to community service. The court ordered a $400 fine + $125 administrative assessment + $60 forensic fee + $100 special DUI fee. The defendant was ordered to complete DUI school and victim impact panel and a breath interlock device was ordered for 365 days. 

The defendant was ordered to attend a total of four AA meetings in three months and complete and pay for alcohol abuse counseling for 12 sessions, one time per month. 

The defendant was ordered to no alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician and no further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations. 



Feb. 8

Nicholas Paul Spencer pleaded no contest to misdemeanor convicted person to notify local law enforcement of change of address. The court ordered credit for time served on the $640 for a convicted person to notify local law enforcement of change of address and was released from custody. 



Feb. 12

A misdemeanor charge of unlawful trespass on land against Milo Casper Derijk was dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office pursuant to a settlement. In another case, a misdemeanor charge of theft was dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office pursuant to a settlement. 



James Harold Vermillion pleaded guilty to driving under the influence first offense. The court ordered a $400 fine + $125 administrative assessment + $60 forensic fee + $100 special DUI fee. 

The court ordered 30 days jail with 28 days stayed for a period of one year. Jail time was converted to 48 hours of community service. The court ordered the defendant to complete DUI school and victim impact panel, and a breath interlock device for a period of 185 days. 

The defendant was ordered no alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician and no further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations. A misdemeanor charge of duty to stop at the scene of an accident was dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office pursuant to plea negotiations.

Samuel McBrayer Lackey pleaded guilty to driving under the influence first offense. The court ordered 30 days jail with 28 days stayed for a period of one year on the condition he serves two days, with the two days converted to 36 hours of community service. The court ordered a $400 fine + $125 administrative assessment + $60 forensic fee + $100 special DUI fee. The defendant was ordered to complete DUI school and victim impact panel, and a breath interlock device for a period of 185 days. The defendant was ordered to no alcohol, no controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician and no further criminal activity other than minor traffic violations. A misdemeanor charge of fail to drive within marked lanes was dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office pursuant to plea negotiations. 



A misdemeanor charge of contracting without a license against John G. McNally was dismissed on a motion by the DA’s office.
