RENO — University of Nevada senior Jordan Caroline has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week after leading the sixth ranked Wolf Pack to a pair of conference wins.
It is the fourth MW weekly honor this season for the Champaign, Ill. native and seventh of the year for a Pack player.
Caleb Martin has earned the honor three times as the Pack duo has won the honor seven of the 14 times this season. It is the seventh career MW weekly honor for Caroline.
In the Pack’s 98-82 win at Colorado State he scored 40 points, 30 in the first half. In the first half Caroline was nearly perfect making 9-of-11 shots, all six 3-pointers attempted and all six free throws he attempted. The 40 points is the high for a MW player this season.
The six made 3-pointers is a new career high passing the five he made in his 45-point performance at New Mexico his sophomore year.
He also grabbed 12 rebounds at CSU giving him 41 double-doubles in his Wolf Pack career which broke the MW career record for double-doubles.
In the win over New Mexico had his 15th double-double of the season, 42nd at Nevada, and fourth in a row scoring 13 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.
For the week Caroline averaged 26.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and three assists. In the two games he shot 44.1 percent from the field, 54.5 percent from behind the arc and 77.3 percent at the free throw line.
