Obituary: Libe Garijo McCauley

Libe Garijo McCauley passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 27, 2019 at the age of 78 in Reno, Nevada.

Libe was born on April 30, 1940 in Bídart, France to Juan and Estefania Garijo. 

She spent her childhood in Spain until moving to Winnemucca, Nevada at age eighteen with her parents and seven of her siblings. In Winnemucca she finished high school and met the love of her life, Patrick McCauley. 

They instantly fell in love and were married within months. Libe and Patrick shared the next 54 years together.

Libe was defined by her love of family and deep Catholic faith.  She will be remembered for her passionate beliefs, sincere loyalty, and earnest love of God. She was wholeheartedly devoted to her roles as a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, tía, and friend.  

Libe is preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Estefania and brothers Patxi, Pete, and Juantxo. She is survived by her husband, Patrick; children, Elizabeth and Thomas; grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicole, Chloe, and Caitlin; siblings Eperanza, Iñaki, Javier, Anamari, Alicia, and Marisol; and other extended family members. 

A Catholic mass will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Parish in Reno. A reception will follow at the Snows Parish Center.
