BMHS JV boys pick up four wins at home tournament

The Battle Mountain High School junior varsity boys basketball team picked up four wins on its home court last weekend at the Longhorn Invitational.

Battle Mountain beat Eureka 32-22 on Friday, as Terrance Fetterly paced the Longhorns with 16 points. Marcos Jimenez netted nine points and Evan Gonzalez had six.

In its first game on Saturday, Battle Mountain cruised to a 54-29 win over Carlin. DJ Wahl posted 14 points and six rebounds for the Longhorns and Fetterly added 12 points and six rebounds. Jimenez joined them in double figures with 12 points.

Next up, Battle Mountain took down league rival Pershing County 38-20, with Aydan Samuelson posting a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Fetterly had eight points 10 rebounds.

In the tournament finale, Battle Mountain cruised to a 65-19 victory over Tonopah. Fetterly led the way with 20 points and four rebounds, while Samuelson had another double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jimenez finished with eight points.

Battle Mountain starts Northern 2A play on Friday against Incline at 3:30 p.m. The Longhorns are back home Saturday to play North Tahoe at 12:30 p.m.
