With the Thanksgiving weekend over, its time for the Lowry and McDermitt high school sports teams to get busy on the basketball floor and wrestling mat.
The McDermitt boys basketball team will be in Reno this weekend for the Winter Invitation JV tournament. The Bulldogs will face a number of 4A JV teams.
The McDermitt boys then head to the Comstock Classic in Virginia City from Dec. 12-14 to play Coleville, Calif., Virginia City and Sierra Lutheran.
The McDermitt girls don’t start its season until the Comstock Classic and they will play Coleville, Calif. Virginia City, Round Mountain and Sierra Lutheran.
The home debut for the McDermitt boys and girls is Friday, Jan. 10 versus Wells.
The Lowry wrestling team will have the longest trip this weekend, hitting the road to Las Vegas for the Green Valley Duals. The Buckaroos will wrestle a number of large schools over the two days.
Lowry will be in Lovelock on Saturday, Dec. 14, for the Mustang Invitational and host the Cody Louk Invitational on Dec. 20-21 at the Winnemucca Event Center.
The Lowry varsity boys basketball team will make the trip to Elko on Friday and Saturday for a two-day tournament. Lowry opens with Hunter, Utah, on Friday at 6 p.m. The Buckaroos play twice on Saturday, starting with Reno at 11 a.m. and Hug at 3 p.m.
Lowry will make its home debut on Tuesday, Dec. 10, to play Fernley at 7:30 p.m. and will also be at home on Saturday, Dec. 14, to take on Sparks at 2:30 p.m.
The Lowry freshmen and JV boys basketball teams will be in Reno this weekend.
The Lowry varsity girls basketball team will be in Sparks this weekend for a three-day tournament. The Lady Bucks play Galena on Thursday at 3 p.m. at Spanish Springs High School. Lowry takes on Bishop Manogue on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Spanish Springs on Saturday at 5 p.m. All games are at Spanish Springs High School.
