Battle Mountain basketball, wrestling begin this weekend

The Battle Mountain High School basketball and wrestling teams get their season going this weekend in Hawthorne and Boise, Idaho, respectively.

The Longhorn wrestling team will be in Idaho for their annual trip to the Bucks Bags Invitational.

Battle Mountain will be at home on Tuesday, Dec. 10, for a dual. The Longhorns will travel to Lovelock for the Mustang Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Battle Mountain will also host the league duals on Jan. 31 - Feb. 1.

The Battle Mountain girls basketball team will be in Hawthorne this weekend for the Serpent Classic. 

The Lady Longhorns are back on the road for the Comstock Classic in Virginia City on Dec. 12-14.

Battle Mountain makes its home debut on Friday, Dec. 20, against Incline at 5 p.m. The Lady Longhorns close out the weekend on Dec. 21, versus North Tahoe at 2 p.m.

Battle Mountain is under the direction of Paul Tremayne and the roster includes Zarina Ceja, Brooke Ripley, Mariana Rangel, Addi Slaybaugh, Alexis Andrade, Kira Smith, Christina Holley, Brynnlee Freeman, Isabel Diaz-Guzman, Jade Castellanos and Kaybrie Nield,

Battle Mountain is under the direction of first-year coach Toby Melver and the roster includes Alan Martinez, Aldo Castellanos, Austin Behrman, Brock Bullock, DJ Martinez, Harley Kelley, Jay Narramore, Kobe Lake, Riley Butler, Roy Chavira and Santos Farias.
