Winnemucca 12U Gold Rush named Northern Sierra Fastpitch Association Champions

The 12U Winnemucca Gold Rush team went undefeated during the State Softball Tournament in Reno July 20-21. 

Six northern Nevada teams competed in the 12U division  with Elko Inferno, Fernley Extreme, Reno Elite, Carson Sharks, Fernley Heat and Winnemucca Gold Rush battling for the top position. 

The Gold Rush girls won three games on Saturday, July 20  and two on Sunday, July 21. 

They defeated Fernley Extreme 16-0 and Elko Inferno 10-0 in pool play and then started the championship double elimination bracket play on Saturday evening (July 20) as the No. 1 seed. 

The first bracket game was against Elko Inferno.

The Gold Rush got off to a slow start, but pulled off the victory 12-10. 

On Sunday, July 21, the day started playing the Fernley Heat. The girls got the 'W' 11-6, sending them to the Championship. 

The championship game was a battle between Winnemucca Gold Rush and Reno Elite. 

The game went into an International tie-breaker in the eighth inning. 

With Lauren Fettic pitching, Maddi McClure catching and a great defense, the Gold Rush held Reno Elite to one run. 

The Gold Rush started the eighth inning with Hayden Case on second base and Fettic at the plate. 

Fettic singled, sending Case home to tie the game at 10-10.

McClure then singled and Bailey Peterson got on base with a walk to load the bases. 

The game ended with Presley Hayes walk-off single to give Gold Rush the victory 11-10.
