Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the city of Winnemucca with the Reno/Sparks Chamber of Commerce as a guest of the Nevada Mining Association. During our stay we were welcomed at the Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca for dinner and introductions.
We enjoyed a very nicely prepared home cooked meal and great company.
We were even fortunate enough to be given a tour of the facility there and learned a lot about what came together to make it happen and how much of a positive impact this foundation has had on the community of Winnemucca.
While on the trip we got to see many incredible sites, processes and facilities but one of the absolute highlights of the trip was definitely the Boys & Girls Club.
Hearing the stories and the history of the journey was motivating. What really hit home is learning about how many lives have been changed by this one place resonated with and inspired me.
The impact and many opportunities this facility, organization and dedicated volunteers have created is something that I know will ripple not only through the community of Winnemucca but the entire state of Nevada.
Various experiences and education that the leaders of future generations will gain from this place is exactly the kind of positive resource we strive to create and maintain in my own City.
The Boys & Girls Club of Winnemucca is so much more than an after-school program or an event center, it is in every sense of the word a Club.
A place where kids and young adults can come and belong in fellowship and positive reinforcement and that translated vividly in our brief but very impressible visit.
