Battle Mountain turns in strong performance at home

The Battle Mountain High School track and field team performed well on its home turf on Saturday, March 30, with a number of first-place finishes.

Cody Ostler took home the top spot in the triple jump with a leap of 40 feet, 4 inches. Teammates Aldo Castellanos (39-5) and Marcus Jury (35-8) were third and fourth, respectively, in the event.

In addition, Castellanos was third in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.61.    

Sruti Bhakta was first in the pole vault, as she cleared the bar at 7-0. The senior also placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 37-10.5. 

The Battle Mountain boys 4x100 relay out ran the field to place first with a time of 45.66, as did the 4x200 squad at 1:42.1. The boys 4x800 relay finished third with a time of 9:40.2

Isaiah Powell took second place in the 400 meters with a time of 57.52, while Michael Malone placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.0. Tristan Cordingley placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 38-6.
