Winnemucca Regional Raceway season concludes

All classes of cars were represented at the Winnemucca Regional Raceway this Friday night, including IMCA Sport Modified, IMCA Modified, Mini-Modified, Pro Stock, Hobby Stock, Dwarf Car, and Outlaw Kart.

Several hundred fans enjoyed a beautiful evening of racing on the dirt track.

Mickey Donovan of Winnemucca was a fan in attendance at the races

“I have been out here five times," said Mickey Donovan. "These races are such a Winnemucca cultural event; you don’t find things like this anywhere else. I was telling my girlfriend before we came, ‘If you thought NASCAR was redneck, wait until you see this’. It is so nice to see the community coming together, watching something that no one from out of town would respect and understand.”

Going into Friday night’s racing Winnemucca’s Cory Sample was sitting at 1,177 points in the national IMCA Modified standings, holding fourth place, and was only 22 points behind the current points leader.

Updated results were not available at press time but will be posted at IMCA .com.
