Devlin finishes fourth for Lady Longhorns in Elko

The girls golf season in the Northern 2A is quickly coming to an end with just a couple tournaments left on the schedule before the state tournament.

Battle Mountain High School was in Elko last Thursday to play Ruby View Golf Course. Lynzee Devlin returned after missing the previous week due to an illness and finished fourth overall with a round of 108.

Adriana Robles shot 131 for the Lady Longhorns and Adriene Burkhart was one stroke behind at 132. Destiny Villanueva rounded out the Battle Mountain scores at 140.

Battle Mountain will have the advantage of playing on its home course on Thursday, beginning at 10 a.m.  The regular season concludes on Friday, Oct. 5, in Round Mountain.

The NIAA 2A State Championship is being hosted by Incline High School and will take place Monday, Oct. 8, and Saturday, Oct. 9.

The first round will be played on Toiyabe Country Club in Washoe Valley. The final 18 holes will take place at Eagle Valley East Golf Course in Carson City.

“We didn’t play as well as we had hoped but Ruby View is a tough course, especially the greens and we didn’t putt very well,” said BMHS coach Roger Wallock. “Lynzee had a nice round for her after her sickness last week kept her from practicing. We only have a couple of weekly tournaments left to improve before State so we really need to work hard in a short amount of time.”
