The Lowry High School girls soccer squad improved its league record to 2-4 on Tuesday night by dispatching Churchill County (Fallon) in a 1-0 nail biter at Lowry High School.

“I’m pleased, the girls did well with the game,” said LHS coach Ed Partee. “They were passing good and we got a lot of shots, they just were not connecting. We had seven shots that were just right off the sides.”

Lowry had 19 shots on goal in the match.

Fernandez found the back of the net with 9:36 remaining in the first half to notch the solitary score by either team in the contest.

“We kept the other team running pretty well tonight,” Partee commented.

The Greenwave fell to 1-5 in league play and 1-8 overall with the loss, while Lowry moved to 2-5 overall.

“We play at Incline on Friday and South Tahoe on Saturday, it is going to be a busy weekend for us on the road,” Partee concluded.

South Tahoe is in a three-way tie for first place in the Northern 3A 'A' Division at 6-0 with North Tahoe and Truckee. Incline is fifth in the league at 4-3. The top five teams advance to the regional tournament in November.
