Lowry girls fall to North Tahoe, Truckee

The Lowry High School varsity soccer squad took on North Tahoe in a conference match at home on Friday.

The Lady Lakers showed the host team no mercy as they jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. North Tahoe scored four goals in the first half and tacked on another three in the second half while holding the Lady Bucks scoreless.

“Tonight was a tough game," said LHS coach ED Partee. "We are coming off some injuries and we were just a little off, we were just a step behind them. The second half was much better than the first half, the girls were going to the ball. We are still working a few bugs out, but I am looking forward to the rest of the season and continuing to improve each game.”

Saturday’s match against Truckee ended up with a 4-0 loss for the Lady Bucks, dropping their league record to 1-3, 1-5 overall.

“I have played soccer my whole life, it is my favorite sport, and I love playing soccer," said LHS player Macy DeLong. "My favorite part of the game is all the teamwork, talking to each other on the field. You get to hang out with your teammates every single day. I think our team is going to do really good this year, at least I hope so.”

Lowry played Churchill County at home on Tuesday; results of the match were not available at press time.

The Lady Bucks travel to Incline on Sept. 21 for a 5 p.m. contest and then take on South Tahoe at the lake on Sept. 22 at noon.
