The Winnemucca Junior High School girls seventh-grade basketball team won both of its games against Fernley and Fallon last weekend to start off their season with a bang.
First, the Lady Warriors basketball squad beat Fernley 54-39 in the Fernley tournament held last weekend.
Savannah Stoker led all scorers with 25 points in this contest.
WJHS then squeaked out a 40-36 win against Fallon to finish off the tournament.
The game was tied with 18 seconds left when Jackie Sanchez scored on an inbound pass. Then, Stoker stole Fallon’s inbound pass and scored to seal the four-point victory.
Winnemucca was scheduled to play at Pyramid Lake on Wednesday.
The Warriors traveled to Carson City on Friday to take on Carson Middle School and Eagle Valley Middle School. Results were not available at press time.
Winnemucca is back on the road today (Saturday) to play in McDermitt at 9 a.m.
