Anton “Tony” Taus JR, 68, of Winnemucca died at home surrounded by his family and friends on August 29, 2018.
Tony was born on February 2, 1950 in Harvey North Dakota to Anton Taus SR and Donna Hammersmith.
His family moved to Montana when he was two years old. He married Gail Zeier in 1971 and they moved to Winnemucca in 1999.
He graduated from Boys Town Nebraska in 1969 and continued his education at Vo Tec in Butte, Montana where he learned to be a welder.
Tony worked for Anaconda Co. and went on to work construction around the western United States including Alaska. The family moved to Winnemucca and he worked for Newmont Mining until his retirement.
Tony was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he wired the Bible Camp for the kids in Montana. He was also a member of the Montana Race Track Wagon Train Club where enjoyed going on Wagon trips for eight years.
In his off time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and he loved taking road trips.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Gail Taus; children Randy (Michell) Taus and Janice (Brian) Nelson all of Anaconda, Montana; grandchildren Justin Paul of Anaconda, MT, Mackenzie (Louie) Bluff of Washington, Hunter Hout of Anaconda, Jali, Bryce, Ali and Malia of Anaconda, MT; great grandchildren Oakley and Mallory Bluff; brothers and sisters Jim (Doreen) Taus of Washington, Mary Ann Norholm of Anaconda, Rhonda (Ken) Klena of Anaconda, Karen (DeWayne) Massey of Winnemucca; other family Dick and Kathy Zeier of Miles City, MT, Jay and Regina Zeier , Diane and Rich Salle both of Anaconda, MT; and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, sister in law Lori,niece Rachel Calder, nephews Tristan, Killoy and Reno Puccinelli,Vernon and James Miller.
A memorial service for Tony will be held at a later date.
