The boys from Mount Shasta, Calif., remained on the mountain this past Friday, Sept. 7. The Bears canceled their game against Pershing County Mustangs football team (1-1).
The varsity and JV Mustangs had hoped to rebound from last week’s mauling by the Bear River Bruins.
Disappointed, Pershing County put the extra time to good use. They met on Joe Yanni field to perfect skills that will serve them the remainder of the season, still up for grabs. It’s anyone’s game.
“We train hard,” said head coach Mike Brooks. “We’ve got to get in as much work as we can in a short time.”
On Thursday, Sept. 6, the Lovelock boys took a break.
They cheered the PCHS girls soccer team to victory over Fernley.
On Friday, the Mustangs travel to Ely to challenge the White Pine Bobcats (0-2).
Lovelock varsity stays home on Friday Sept. 21 to host the Incline Highlanders (2-1-0, overall) at 7 p.m. The JV boys, coached by Dan Murphy, travel to Portola, Calif.
