The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team had to sweat it out a couple different times on Friday night but came back to beat West Wendover in four sets.
Battle Mountain used a 6-1 run in the first set to build a 10-4 lead and never looked back. The Lady Longhorns led by as many as 11 points and settled for the 25-17 win. The second set went back-and forth at the start. Battle Mountain led 20-15, only to see West Wendover come back and go up 24-23 and have set point. The Wolverines also had set point at 25-24, but the Lady Longhorns scored the final three points to win 27-25.
Battle Mountain looked to be in cruise control in the third set, leading 19-15 but West Wonder went on a 10-1 run to win the set 20-15.
The Lady Longhorns bounced back in the fourth set to claim the match.
Battle Mountain travels to Silver Stage on Friday for a 5 p.m. start and Yerington on Saturday at noon.
