The Lowry High School volleyball team traveled to Spring Creek and Elko last weekend for their first conference action of the season.
The Lady Bucks suffered two, three-set losses to Spring Creek and Elko to drop to 0-2 in the Northern 3A and 3-5 overall..
Lowry played Spring Creek on Friday, Sept. 7, and lost 25-16, 25-19 and 26-24.
“Against Spring Creek we really struggled in all aspects of the game,” said LHS coach Brandon Eastman. “It really came down to our nerves with a majority of our team playing in their first varsity league match and we were never really able to relax and get into a rhythm. Credit Spring Creek though, because they are much improved from last year and they look a lot more comfortable as a team on the court this year and they didn’t give us anything.”
Lowry took on Elko on Saturday, Sept. 8, and was defeated 25-14, 25-15 and 25-12.
“On Saturday against Elko, even though the scores don’t reflect it, we played much better volleyball," Eastman said. "We were more aggressive and much more committed to our defensive effort. Elko is just really good. They are probably the best team in our league this year, but we were really able to take away some positive things in that match that we can use moving forward into our match ups this weekend against Dayton and South Tahoe.”
Lowry had its home conference opener against the Dayton Dust Devils on Friday night, results of the game were not available at press time.
The Lady Bucks host South Tahoe today (Saturday) at noon.
Following the match with the Vikings, the Lady Bucks begin a five-match road trip at Sparks on Friday, Feb. 14.
Lowry will not be back on its home floor until Friday, Sept. 28, against Spring Creek.
