John A. Albisu of McDermitt, Nevada passed away on August 26, 2018 at age 74. He was born January 17, 1944 in Jordon Valley, Oregon to Victor and Juanita Albisu. The family lived in McDermitt, Nevada and John grew up and attended McDermitt High school and graduated with the class of 1961.
Five years later he obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Nevada Reno in 1966. He also served his country for six years in the Army National Guard as a rifle marksman and sharpshooter.
John married Rosemary Scibior in 1972 and they spent 46 wonderful years together. John worked as a ranch hand, was a business owner, Bi- state Petroleum Chevron, and a rancher. John enjoyed riding horses, helping friends with branding, rodeos, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary Albisu; his sons Ty V. Albisu (Linda) and Joseph J. Albisu; grandchildren Hunter Albisu and Kinsey Albisu; brother Frank Albisu (Darlene); sister Marlene Fettic (Bob); nephews Richard Albisu (Nikki), Mike Fettic (Heidi), Blaine Albisu (Tara); nieces Lacy Marvel (Anthony), Amy Stewart (Ken), along with several loved in-laws and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Juanita Albisu and Victor Albisu, his brother James V. Albisu; and his grandparents Ignacio and Tomasa Albisu, Juan and Ramona Jaca.
In lieu of flowers a donation in John’s name can be sent to the McDermitt Rodeo Association, P.O. Box 416 McDermitt, NV 89421. John was always grateful for his friends and community.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday September 8, 2018, 11:00 am at the McDermitt Community Hall in McDermitt, Nevada.
