The Battle Mountain High School girls soccer team ended its season with a 2-1 victory over Pershing County on Senior Day. The Lady Longhorns said goodbye to its two seniors in Sruti Bhakta and Liliana Chavez.
Battle Mountain held a 1-0 lead at halftime and each squad scored once in the final 40 minutes of play.
Bhakta had a goal in her final game of her high school career, while Zarina Ceja added the other goal for the Lady Longhorns
BMHS head coach David Marz added that Battle Mountain had a strong defensive effort from Angelica Posadas, Chavez, Addie Ortiz, Giovanna Ortiz, Jackie La Riva, and Anyeli Guizar-Gonzalez and goalkeeper Mandy Lofthouse.
The coach added that Alexis Andrade, Maria Piedra and Zarina Ceja worked tirelessly in the midfield to push the ball forward to Bhakta.
“It was a good way to end the season,” Marz said.
