The Lowry High School boys soccer team dropped a pair of home  games to finish its season last week with a 4-13-1 league record.

On Thursday, the Buckaroos suffered a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Spartans from Spring Creek.

“We sucked, that game was awful, I was ready to quit,” said Lowry coach Steve Swanson. “It was the coaching. We weren’t coached well; we weren’t ready, and we played terrible against a not very good team.”

In Friday’s match against Elko, the Buckaroos matched the Indians' two goals in the first half, but a late penalty kick at the end of the second half sealed Lowry’s fate 3-2.

“Today we played great," Swanson said. "The guys did what I asked them to do, they were passing the ball, they were running, they worked hard. We gave up a penalty kick at the end of the game that cost us. It was a pretty good game against a decent team. I was pleased with today’s game, I’m happy right now.”

Lowry missed out on the playoffs this year but bring back a majority of its team. The Buckaroos graduate four players

"This was a disappointing season; we had some personnel issues early that did not help us," Swanson said. "Although the results were not good, the effort and the play were good. We were fast, and we were strong; there was never any lack of effort, and that is the biggest thing. This year we were a pretty young team, next year we won’t be. Overall, it was a good building season for next year.”
