The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh-grade boys basketball team played its first game of the season at Elko last weekend against the Jaguars.
The Warriors emerged victorious with a 59-21 win on the road.
“Last week they did great. They played as a good team and had fun," said first-year WJHS coach Sean Millikan. "Jessie (Siddiqui-Jeronimo) was my high-scorer (14), but, every kid but one scored, everyone got involved. It is looking like it is going to be a great year.”
The Warriors played in Truckee on Thursday (Oct. 25); results of the contest were not available at press time.
“We have a three-hour bus trip each way to play in Truckee,” Millikan said. “But it is good for the kids; a lot of them have never even been to Truckee.”
