The third annual Battle Born Football Classic will be held Nov. 9-11 in Winnemucca.

Sixteen teams from Winnemucca, Lovelock, Battle Mountain, Elko, Spring Creek and Yerington will compete in three different age brackets.

This event was first held in Elko with only six teams and grew to 11 last year in Battle Mountain.

Friday (Nov. 9) evening and Saturday (Nov. 10) from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. games will be held at the Lowry High School (LHS) football and soccer fields and at Highland Park. The schedule is still being finalized.

The tournament is being sponsored by the Winnemucca Convention and Visitors Authority, and Compressor Pump and Service from Elko.

The Battleborn Football Classic Facebook page states, “To insure that we promote respect and sportsmanship, each Head Coach is required to post a $150 Sportsmanship Bond to emphasize the need to hold their coaches and players accountable for Good Sportsmanship.”

The championship games will take place on Sunday (Nov. 11) on the LHS football field. The Rookie Division (8-9) will play at 10 a.m., the Junior Division (10-11) will go at noon, and the Senior Division (12, 13, 14) squares off at 2 p.m.
