The Winnemucca Junior High School eighth-grade boys basketball team crushed Elko's Adobe Middle School  on the road last weekend 50-22 to start its season out strong.

“I thought we came out a lot more intense than Elko, they didn’t seem to come out as hard as we did in the first half," said WJHS coach Byron Jeppsen  about the game. "My guys were dialed in from the get-go. We took advantage of some mismatches. We had some bigger kids that were being guarded by smaller kids from Elko. Dante (Cassinelli) had 14 points inside, right where we wanted, and Franck (Davis) took good care of the ball.”

The Warriors played on Thursday (Oct. 25) in Truckee; results of the contest were not available at press time.

They will travel to Carson on Friday, Nov. 2 for a 3 p.m. contest.

WJHS will play their only home games of the season Saturday, Nov. 17, starting at 9 a.m.
