The Battle Mountain High School volleyball team clinched a spot in the Northern 2A playoffs after recording a split of a pair of matches this past weekend in Lake Tahoe.
Battle Mountain suffered a three-set loss to Incline (26-24, 25-16, 25-23) on Friday afternoon.
Isabella Deallah recorded a team-high 10 kills, while Addi Slaybaugh added six kills. Drue Domagala had three kills and Kira Smith and Uliana Willingham had two kills apiece.
Slaybaugh had have of Battle Mountain’s six aces and Willingham had two blocks.
Julia Ramirez and DeAllah reached double figures in digs with 14 apiece. Slaybaugh added eight digs and Smith and Sarahi Jimenez had five and four digs, respectively. Domagala collected 23 of Battle Mountain’s 24 assists.
Longhorns knock off Lakers
When Battle Mountain and North Tahoe play the first time, the Lakers knocked off the Lady Longhorns in four sets.
The two reams met again in Tahoe City, Calif., on Saturday and the Lady Longhorns turned the tables on North Tahoe to win in four sets.
North Tahoe ran away with the first set at 25-10, only to see Battle Mountain rally to win the final three sets 25-17, 28-26 and 25-21.
Deallah led the way once again with nine kills, while Slaybaugh contributed five more. Smith finished with three kills and Brooke Ripley, Lolly Argueta and Domagala each had two kills.
Domagala and Deallah had two aces apiece and Domagala had a team-high 25 assists. Ramirez (17) and Deallah (10) were in double figures in digs once again.
Battle Mountain (5-8) is in fifth place in the Northern 2A standings. The top six teams qualify for the postseason. The Lady Longhorns traveled to Lovelock on Tuesday and results were not available at press time.
The Northern 2A Regional Championships will take place Nov. 2-3 at White Pine High School in Ely.
Yerington leads the league at 14-0 and is followed by Incline (12-2), White Pine (11-3) and North Tahoe (8-6).
Pershing County and Silver Stathe are fighting for the playoff spot.
