Buckaroos drops regular season finale to Greenwave

The Lowry High School football team finished out the regular season this past Friday against the top team in the Northern 3A.

The Buckaroos' road trip to Fallon ended with a 43-0 loss to undefeated Churchill County.

The Greenwave built a 36-0 lead in the second quarter, creating a running clock for the remainder of the game.

Churchill County scored once in the third quarter to account for the final points of the night.

It is not all bad for Lowry, who qualified for the postseason for the first time since 2014.

The Buckaroos finished the year at 5-5 overall and 4-5 in the Northern 3A.

Lowry had won just three games from 2015-17 and all three of those wins were against Dayton.

The Buckaroos travel to Elko on Thursday to open play in the first round of the playoffs at 7 p.m.. The Indians beat the Buckaroos 42-13 on Oct. 12 in Winnemucca,

The winner of the contest moves on to play Truckee on Saturday, Nov. 3 in Truckee.

Spring Creek travels to Fernley on Thursday in the other opening-round match-up in the Northern 3A.

That winner will play Churchill County in Fallon on Friday, Nov.2

The Southern 3A playoffs begin on Thursday as well, with Boulder City hosting Del Sol and Sunrise Mountain traveling to Cheyenne.
