The Lowry High School girls golf team concluded its season this past Monday and Tuesday at the NIAA 3A State Championships  in Truckee,

The squad played at the par- 71 Schaffer’s Mill Golf Course.

Lowry finished fourth in the two-day tournament, with a team score of 788. The Lady Bucks shot 388 on the second day but could not make up any ground.

Boulder City (744) won the state championship, which included a round of 355 on the final 18 holes.

Pahrump Valley (750) and Elko (774) were second and third, respectively. Spring Creek shot equal rounds of 403 to finish fifth at 806.

Lowry senior Tatyana Carlson continued her dominance on the courses this year, shooting an 81 and a 74 for a combined 155.

That two-day total was good enough to win the individual state championship.

Truckee’s Ryann Flynn was close behind at 158, while Breanne Nygaard (161) from Pahrump Valley finished third.

Carlson's state individual title was  Lowry’s first since 2003.

Nygaard led after the first round with an 80 but shot 81 on day two.

“It was one of my goals to average in the 70s this year and I achieved that by working hard for the past four years,” Carlson said. “If it is not falling in your hands right now, don’t hold it against yourself. I was in second place after the first day, but I ended up getting first. If you keep trying to achieve your goals, and don’t give up, or get mad at yourself, you can succeed.”

Hannah Havens rebounded on day two, to shoot 96 and finish 18th with a two-day total of 203.

Angelina Martinez carded rounds of 103 and 106 to place in a tie for 19th at 209.

Bailey Hayes (221) finished 24th overall,  Kaitlyn Hales (243), was 34th and McKenzie Vandermark (249) rounded out the Lowry team scoring and finished 36th.
