The Winnemucca Junior High School eighth-grade girls basketball team finished up their season with three more wins at home.

The Warriors only lost one game this year.

In its first game against McDermitt, WJHS won easily 36-23 behind Mia Hernandez’s 15 points. Kailey Franklin contributed nine.

“Those early morning games are tough, we started out slow," said WJHS coach Daralee Millikan. "Mia had a great game, and Kailey was consistent as always.”

In the second contest the Lady Warriors crushed Lovelock 41-10, Hernandez and Franklin were top scorers again with 12 and 11 respectively.

“We tried a few different things and our execution of our press was much improved from last week,” Millikan said. “Mia and Kailey played well and Gracie (Marchand) stepped it up.”

WJHS closed out the year with an easy 38-22 win over Pyramid Lake. Alex Barocio scored 12 points in the game, Franklin and Hernandez both had 8.

“Overall, a nice way to end our season," Millikan said. "Alex had a great final game. The girls are absolutely fabulous; they should be proud of all their accomplishments this season.”
