Lowry boys drop matches to Sparks, North Valleys

The Lowry High School boys soccer team dropped a pair of games on the road last weekend.

On Friday, the Buckaroos fell to Sparks 5-2. Giovanni Sapien and Alejandro Martinez both had goals in the contest.

Saturday found Lowry matched up against the undefeated North Valleys Panthers (9-0) on their home field. North Valleys crushed the Bucks 7-0.

“They are undefeated, we learned a lot,” said Lowry coach Steve Swanson. “Our play was better; we should do well this week at home on Tuesday against Fallon.”

Lowry now sits at 3-8 in league play and 3-10 overall, and they hold ninth place in the eleven team Northern 3A ‘A’ conference.

The Buckaroos played Churchill County (Fallon) (1-9) at home Tuesday. Results of the contest were not available at press time.

They take on North Tahoe (8-3) at home on Friday at 4 p.m. and remain at home to challenge Truckee (7-2-2) on Saturday at noon.

Lowry makes its final road trip of the season on Oct. 19 in South Tahoe and Oct. 20 at Incline.
