The Battle Mountain High School girls soccer team was looking to pick up its second straight victory as it traveled to Lovelock on Saturday afternoon.
However, the Lady Longhorns could not get their offense in gear and suffered a 1-0 loss to the Pershing County Mustangs.
Kylee Fuller scored Pershing County's goal on a penalty kick.
With the defeat, Battle Mountain dropped to 2-5-2 in the Northern 3A 'B' Division with five matches to play.
The top three teams in the league advance to the postseason. Those three spots are currently owned by Whittell, White Pine and Fernley.
The Lady Longhorns would have to win its final five games to capture a playoff spot.
Battle Mountain is back at home to celebrate Homecoming this week.
The Lady Longhorns host Dayton on Wednesday and Whittell on Saturday.
